Myth: I have to get all new cabinets if I want to update my kitchen…
There are many ugly kitchens out there. Back in the 90’s especially, golden oak cabinets were all the rage! There was a builder in Bel Aire, KS in the late 80s that installed dark mahogany cabinetry in all his homes. I’ve talked with many homeowners that really like the layout of their kitchen, but hate how everything else about it. Many people feel bad spending the money to completely remodel their kitchen when the cabinets still function – they just look ugly! A common misconception is that you have to completely gut the kitchen and start over with all new cabinets to get a new look.
There are many ways to update your kitchen without completely gutting it. We recently completed a project in which we painted the cabinetry and replaced the countertop to give the kitchen a completely new look. With these two simple things, it felt like a whole new space.
The homeowners opted to update the the backsplash, flooring, lighting, and paint the walls and trim as well which just knocked this transformation out of the park.
