Myth: I have to choose light colors in order for a space not seem dark.
Lightening up your space is definitely high on many people’s remodeling checklist here in Wichita, KS. It can be difficult especially if you are working with an older home but desiring a pinterest-worthy look. Newer homes feature larger windows and higher ceilings that make a space much lighter and open. But if raising the roof and updating to larger windows isn’t in your budget, what can you do?
We have found that a very simple way to solve this problem is to add better lighting. Sometimes we just don’t realize how much of a difference some quality lights can make in a room.
One customer was considering using a lighter wood color on their cabinet update, although they preferred the darker tones. We added sufficient lighting, the customer got their darker cabinets, and this kitchen is anything but too dark.
We have also installed great lighting in basements, and those rooms seem anything but dark!
So we say add great lighting and then the sky is the limit on your design choices. Don’t let poor lighting hamper your design!
